Mary Shotwell Little was known as a dedicated and reliable worker, which is why her boss at C&S Bank in downtown Atlanta knew something must be wrong when she didn’t show up for work that Friday. The night before Mary had visited Lenox Square, a newer shopping center, where she bought groceries for an upcoming dinner party and met a friend for dinner. The next afternoon, her car is found at the shopping center with the groceries still in the back and a small amount of blood in the front.
Even though largely forgotten today, the search for Mary was one of the largest in Atlanta, Georgia’s history. Despite this, there were few clues: the delivery of red roses to her workplace from a secret admirer, a financial transaction in her hometown the night of her disappearance, and a second credit card charge hours later in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In the 58 years since her disappearance, there have been many theories about what happened to Mary, but no clear answers. In this week’s episode, we talk about Mary’s childhood and early adulthood, the lead up to her wedding, her disappearance, and what has developed in the Mary Shotwell Little case since 1965.
People and Cases Mentioned in this Episode:
Mary Shotwell Little (unsolved missing person case)
